Health and Work Safety
Uludağ University Technical Sciences Vocational School’s Health and Work Safety Program was established to train competent technical intermediate personnel for the private and public sectors, in line with current technology and knowledge, in order to address potential occupational accidents and occupational diseases that may occur in the workplace. As in the rest of the world, in our country as well, the rapid increase in population, the rising demand for energy, developments in industrial, medical, and information technologies, as well as urbanization and construction activities, have led to rapid growth and transformation in the manufacturing industry, construction, and energy sectors. The establishment of new service fields in many areas today and the advancement of widely used production technologies have increased the need for occupational health and safety technicians. With the Health and Work Safety Law No. 6331, the employment of occupational health and safety personnel (such as occupational safety specialists and workplace physicians) has been made mandatory in both the private and public sectors, which has further increased the demand for graduates of our program. In today’s Türkiye, in order for these industrial sectors to reach higher levels, there is a need for well-trained and qualified occupational health and safety technicians to take part in this field. The employment opportunities for graduates of this program cover a very wide range. They may work in the Health and Work Safety Center Directorates of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, in other public institutions, as well as in the private sector. In addition, our students, as technical personnel, may obtain an “Work Safety Specialist” certificate if they successfully pass the examination given after completing the training provided by institutions authorized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. In this way, our graduates gain the opportunity to work in this legally mandated field of employment in both the public and private sectors. Our program is supported by contemporary educational methods and offers both theoretical and practical training suited to today’s conditions, enabling our students to graduate with sufficient professional experience. Students who fulfill the program requirements and meet the graduation conditions are awarded the title of “Health and Work Safety Technician” upon graduating from Uludağ University Technical Sciences Vocational School.
