In the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, training is provided on Pharmacokinetics and Clinical Pharmacology, including the properties, effects, uses and doses of drugs used for the purpose of protection and treatment against diseases, and the scientific basis of conscious and correct drug use is established. Information is given about the physicochemical properties of poisons, their effects, clinical and laboratory diagnosis, methods of prevention and treatment from poisoning.

In the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, "General Pharmacology", "Special Pharmacology I and II", "Toxicology", "Clinical Pharmacology" and "Public Health (Environmental Toxicology)" courses are given to undergraduate students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine theoretically and practically.

The main research topics of the department are pesticides, heavy metals, mycotoxins, nitrates and nitrites, antibiotic residues, poisonings, food pollution and toxicity studies with insecticides and drug interactions within the scope of environmental toxicology. In our department, seven veterinarians have completed their doctoral studies, two pharmacists and a chemist have completed their master's studies.

In addition to education and scientific research, mycotoxin analyzes in feed, milk and dairy products, toxicological controls of some feed and foodstuffs and chemical diagnosis of poisoning are carried out in the department. Consultancy services are also provided on the development of drugs, forensic toxicology, unauthorized and misuse of drugs.
