FACULTY INTRODUCTION

Bursa Uludağ University (BUU) Faculty of Fine Arts was established by the Council of Ministers’ decision numbered 95/7044 on July 4, 1995. Following the decision made at the Higher Education General Assembly meeting on April 3, 2007, education and training officially began in the 2007-2008 academic year with the admission of 35 students in total: 20 students in the Department of Painting, 10 students in the Acting Major of the Department of Performing Arts, and 5 students in the Dramatic Writing Major. The Department of Traditional Turkish Arts, established in 2021, commenced its education in the 2022-2023 academic year by admitting 20 students to the Illumination (Tezhip), Miniature, and Paper Marbling (Ebru) majors.
The Fall semester of the 2007-2008 academic year was completed at the 152 Evler Campus, while the Spring semester started on February 14, 2008, at the Mudanya Campus. Currently, the Dean's Office and the Department of Performing Arts operate at the Mudanya Campus, whereas the Departments of Traditional Turkish Arts and Painting conduct their education and training activities at the Görükle Campus. Permission from the Higher Education Council (YÖK) has been granted for the establishment of the Departments of Industrial Product Design, Graphic Design, Ceramic and Glass Design, and Textile and Fashion Design, with ongoing efforts to complete the physical and academic infrastructure for these departments.
To date, a total of 439 students have graduated from the BUU Faculty of Fine Arts. In the 2024-2025 academic year, the total number of enrolled students in the faculty is 289. Admission to all departments is carried out through a special talent examination. Additionally, postgraduate programs are offered within the BUU Institute of Social Sciences, including a Master’s and Proficiency in Art program in the Painting Major, as well as a Master’s program in the Performing Arts Major.
As of 2025, the academic staff includes 1 professor, 4 associate professors, and 1 assistant professor in the Department of Painting; 2 professors, 3 associate professors, 3 assistant professors, and 1 research assistant in the Department of Performing Arts; 2 assistant professors and 5 lecturers in the Department of Traditional Turkish Arts; 1 professor and 1 associate professor in the Department of Graphic Design; and 1 assistant professor in the Department of Textile and Fashion Design. Moreover, a sufficient number of teaching staff appointed under Articles 40/a and 31 of Law No. 2547 also provide courses at the faculty.
