FACULTY HISTORY

Bursa Uludağ University (BUU) Faculty of Fine Arts was established by the Council of Ministers’ decision numbered 95/7044 on July 4, 1995. Following the decision made at the Higher Education General Assembly meeting on April 3, 2007, education and training began in the 2007-2008 academic year with the admission of a total of 35 students: 20 students in the Department of Painting, 10 students in the Acting Major of the Department of Performing Arts, and 5 students in the Dramatic Writing Major. The Department of Traditional Turkish Arts, established in 2021, started its education in the 2022-2023 academic year with the enrollment of 20 students in the Illumination (Tezhip), Miniature, and Paper Marbling (Ebru) majors.
The Fall semester of the 2007-2008 academic year was completed at the 152 Evler Campus, while the Spring semester commenced on February 14, 2008, at the Mudanya Campus. Currently, the Dean’s Office and the Department of Performing Arts operate at the Mudanya Campus, whereas the Departments of Traditional Turkish Arts and Painting continue their education and training activities at the Görükle Campus. Permission has been granted by the Higher Education Council (YÖK) for the establishment of the Departments of Industrial Product Design, Graphic Design, Ceramic and Glass Design, and Textile and Fashion Design, with ongoing efforts to develop the necessary physical and academic infrastructure.
