The field of fine arts, which is among the tangible elements reflecting the level of development of states and societies, has increasingly gained significance not only worldwide but also in our country. In this context, both the quality of the artworks circulated within the existing cultural structure and the activities related to the training and development of the artists who produce these works hold a vital place in the strategic plans of cultural and artistic institutions, as well as in national education policies of countries.
Established in 2007 under Bursa Uludağ University, the Faculty of Fine Arts has continued its development over the past 18 years, albeit at a relatively moderate pace compared to the passage of time. The Faculty of Fine Arts at Bursa Uludağ University began its education and training activities in the 2007-2008 academic year by admitting students through a special talent examination to the Departments of Painting and Performing Arts. In the 2022-2023 academic year, the Department of Traditional Turkish Arts was incorporated into the faculty, and currently, the faculty operates with three departments. The Departments of Painting and Traditional Turkish Arts are located on the Görükle Campus, while the Department of Performing Arts and the Dean's Office are situated at the Mudanya Campus.
Additionally, our faculty plans to establish new departments to address the existing shortages in academic staff and physical facilities as outlined in the faculty’s organizational structure. These departments include Textile and Fashion Design, Industrial Product Design, Graphic Design, and Ceramic and Glass Design.
Each academic year, the Faculty admits students through a special talent exam as follows: 15 students to the Acting Major of the Department of Performing Arts, 10 students to the Drama Writing and Dramaturgy Major, 30 students to the Department of Painting, and 20 students to the Majors of Illumination (Tezhip), Miniature, and Paper Marbling (Ebru) within the Department of Traditional Turkish Arts. The recruitment of academic staff for the Calligraphy (Hat) Major in the Department of Traditional Turkish Arts has been completed, and it is planned to admit 10 students through a special talent exam to this major in the 2025-2026 academic year, thereby commencing educational activities.
