Bursa Uludag University campus will sprout with seed balls

Bursa Uludağ University (BUÜ) students prepared hundreds of seed balls to be thrown into the empty spaces of the university campus in the event held under the leadership of the Sustainable Campus Coordinator Office.

The Seed Ball Workshop, organized by BUU Sustainable Campus Coordinator, attracted great attention from academic and administrative staff as well as students. BUU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Adem Doğangün, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. İlhan Turgut, Sustainable Campus Coordinator Prof. Dr. Güray Salihoğlu and Coordinator Assistant Prof. Dr. Sule Turhan was also present. Academic and administrative staff accompanied the students who prepared the seed ball in the area created at the Farm Center of the Faculty of Agriculture.

EXAMPLE PROJECTS ARE IMPLEMENTED FOR THE SOCIETY

Delivering a short greeting in the program, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Adem Doğangün emphasized that as the university administration, they have taken important steps in terms of sustainability. Doğangün underlined that they will continue to support these studies as much as possible; “Prof. Dr. Guray Salihoglu and Prof. Dr. We are pleased to follow the events held under the leadership of our teachers, Şule Turhan. The applied projects set important examples not just only for our university but also for the whole society. Planting seeds is a very important activity. I congratulate our students for their interest and sensitivity in this regard. I would like to thank everyone who organized and participated in the program.”

A FIRST IN UNIVERSITY HISTORY

Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. İlhan Turgut said that they are very happy to host the Seed Ball Workshop as a faculty. Dean Turgut underlined that the seed are very important in the plant production cycle; “The qualification of seeds, quality and liveliness of the seed has a really special meaning for the continuity cycle. Because it also takes place in a life cycle. It also offers us a sustainability. We were happy to host this event, which was held for the first time in our university. We would like to thank everyone who contributed and all the participants.”

SEEDS OF THE HOPE

BUU Sustainable Campus Coordinator Prof. Dr. Güray Salihoğlu also pointed out that the Seed Ball Workshop was organized for a good purpose. Reminding that they announced the event to the public days ago, Prof. Dr. Guray Salihoglu; “Following this announcement, thousands of fruit seeds were sent from many regions of Bursa. Receiving these gifts gave us hope for environmental awareness. Today we are making a seed ball from those seeds. In every seed, there is hope of a person. Maybe these seeds will become a beneficial plant or a tree for the environment. We sincerely thank everyone who supported us.”

Salihoğlu announced that they will leave the seed balls they prepared with the contribution of the academic and administrative staff, as well as the students, to rest for a week and then they will be thrown to different parts of the Görükle Campus under the supervision of the Faculty of Agriculture academics.
