The Department of Art Education is a four-year undergraduate program. Affiliated with the Department of Fine Arts Education at Uludağ University, the Department of Art Education has been providing education since 1982 and has trained numerous educators and artists, making it one of the most established educational institutions in our country in this field. The program consists of "General Knowledge," "Field Knowledge," and "Teacher Profession" courses. Field courses are comprised of courses based on the sciences and arts to which the field of Art Education is directly related, training Visual Arts Teachers.
The scope and content of the Art Education curriculum aims to foster freedom of thought and initiative within a contemporary and democratic educational environment; to enable independent thinking and decision-making as part of artistic creation processes; to foster creative thinking skills beyond creativity potential; and to effectively utilize innovative ideas and approaches in artistic processes. Considering the diverse interdisciplinary content of the Visual Arts field, the program content is developed with a holistic approach by the Turkish Higher Education Council. It is designed to foster multiple perspectives within the context of Education, Science, and Art. As a requirement of the Visual Arts Teacher qualification, our curriculum is not limited to the fine arts; it is supplemented by courses in Educational Sciences and General Knowledge. Furthermore, our curriculum is enriched with numerous elective courses related to various disciplines offered specifically for our Department.
Students who successfully complete their undergraduate education receive the title of "Arts and Crafts Teacher" or "Visual Arts Teacher" and work in primary and secondary schools.
Our Department began education in 1982 and currently has 165 undergraduate students and 12 graduate students.
Our Department employs 2 Professors, 2 Associate Professors, 1 Assistant Lecturer, 7 Instructors, and 3 Assistant Research Assistants.
