Department Overview

Economics is a social science that examines how societies efficiently use scarce resources and analyzes the processes of production, consumption, and distribution. The Department of Economics provides students with knowledge of economic theories and their applications in daily life as well as at the global level. The curriculum covers fundamental topics such as microeconomics (decision-making processes of individuals and firms) and macroeconomics (the functioning of national and global economies). Students are also introduced to subjects such as economic growth, employment, inflation, monetary policies, international trade, and development. The Economics Department equips students with strong analytical thinking skills and prepares them for career opportunities in the public sector, private sector, academia, and non-governmental organizations.

OUR MISSION:       Our mission as the Department of Economics is to help our students prepare for their future lives and to graduate them as well-equipped economists by introducing them to the most up-to-date economic knowledge.

OUR VISION:       Our vision is to educate free-thinking economists—students who are inquisitive, socially responsible, and conscious of themselves and their environment—under the guidance of a distinguished academic staff.
