The researchers who will be in the 2% success ranking in the world in 2023, namely the “World Top 2% Scientists” list, have been determined by a team led by scientists from Stanford University in the United States (US) and including scientists from the Netherlands, using the composite indicator scientific impact index consisting of variables such as “citation count, h index, hm index, self-citation rate”.
Only 15 academicians working at Bursa Uludag University (BUÜ) have earned the right to be included in the “World Top 2% Scientists List”, where 210198 scientists whose studies were examined in 2023 are included, and 1395 scientists from Turkey are included. Among these academicians, there is a member of the Food Engineering Department, Assoc. Senem Kamiloglu Bestepe (45020) and Prof. Dr. Tülay Özcan (200119) were also included.
In the ranking created by taking into account the studies of the scientists throughout their academic careers, 1040 academicians from Turkey and 11 academicians from Bursa Uludağ University found a place on the list out of a total of 204643 scientists; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Senem Kamiloglu (174565) was the representative of the Food Engineering Department on this list.
Rector Prof. Dr. Ferudun Yılmaz congratulated all academicians on the list of scientists and emphasized that he was very pleased with the increase in the number of Turkish scientists and BUÜ academicians on the list. Rector said, “We are extremely happy with the progress our University and our country have made this year compared to last year. We congratulate all our professors who made it to the list and wish them continued success. We believe that our professors will be role models for our young academics.”
