Vision
To cultivate individuals capable of assuming managerial positions at both national and international levels within the institutions and enterprises of its field—drawing on an institutional culture that unites engineering science with economic science, together with a multidisciplinary educational infrastructure—and to attain and sustain its standing as a pioneering institution of education and research among comparable institutions.
Mission
Among the fundamental duties of the Department of Agricultural Economics are, through instruction and research, the cultivation of contemporary, analytically minded individuals so that the use of natural resources—encompassing the procurement of inputs and the production, distribution, and consumption of agriculturally based goods and services—may be conducted in the light of economic science; contributing to scientific and technological advancement in the field; and transferring the knowledge it possesses into practice.
Within this framework, one of the principal functions of the Department of Agricultural Economics is to conduct undergraduate and graduate programs aimed at cultivating individuals who are equipped with contemporary knowledge and skills, who are conversant with the economic problems of agriculture, agriculture-based industries (particularly the food industry), natural resources, and the environment, and who are able to produce scientific solutions to these problems.
