Welcoming the New Year with Melodies from Around the World” Concert Held

On January 6, 2026, a meaningful concert event was held within the Department of Music Education, Division of Fine Arts Education, Faculty of Education at Bursa Uludağ University. Titled “Welcoming the New Year with Melodies from Around the World,” the concert brought together audiences with performances by students of the Orff Instruments Course, the Ukulele Class, and members of the BUU Polyphonic Music Ensemble (ÇSMT), under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Sezen Özeke.

Featuring melodies from diverse cultures, the program stood out in terms of students’ stage performances and their experience of making music collectively. The concert received great appreciation from the audience with its musical diversity and polyphonic approach.

The program was further enriched by surprise contributions. Piano accompaniment by our support staff member Ferdi Oruç and a frame drum performance by our department secretary Özlem Şengöz added a sincere and warm atmosphere to the concert.

The event was marked by emotional moments, as it was the final concert of Prof. Dr. Sezen Özeke due to her decision to retire. At the end of the concert, our administrators, academics, and students shared their kind thoughts and gratitude for Prof. Dr. Sezen Özeke. The program concluded with the performance of the piece titled “Dostluk” (Friendship) by the department’s faculty members, dedicated to our retiring professor.

As the Department of Music Education, we extend our sincere thanks to Prof. Dr. Sezen Özeke for her valuable contributions to education and the arts, and we wish her a healthy, peaceful, and music-filled retirement.
