Uludağ University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Animal Hospital (Animal Health Research and Application Center) opened on April 16, 2008. Our animal hospital is one of the few in Turkey approved by EAEVE (European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education) and has a total indoor area of 7500 m² . The indoor area on the ground floor that serves as the hospital is 5000 m² .
Our hospital, like those in developed countries, is the first in Türkiye to be planned according to animal species and has a structure built to European standards. Therefore, the hospital has three clinics: Small Animal Clinic, Equine Clinic, and Farm Animal Clinic. Our hospital, which provides 24/7 service, has a Reception Area, Waiting Room, Emergency Clinic, Pharmacy, Cashier, Radiodiagnostic Center, Central Laboratory, Central Sterilization, Laundry, and numerous examination and treatment rooms and halls according to animal species. The Emergency Clinic includes examination rooms, on-call physician rooms, and on-call student rooms.
The Small Animal Clinic has a total of 3 fully equipped operating rooms, anesthesia preparation, intensive care and rehabilitation units, an eye examination room, a dressing room, a dental unit, a vaccination room, an echo-ECG unit, an exotic animal examination room, a behavioral disease examination room, dog and cat hospitalization units, an infectious disease hospitalization unit, and an autopsy room. The Horse Clinic has 1 fully equipped operating room, anesthesia preparation, intensive care and rehabilitation units, an ECG-endoscopy unit, a farrier's shop, a labor observation room, and horse hospitalization and infectious disease hospitalization units. The Farm Animal Clinic has 1 fully equipped operating room, a foot treatment unit, a calf observation room, a maternity ward, cattle hospitalization and infectious disease hospitalization units.
Our hospital is managed by a chief physician, two deputy chief physicians, and one administrative head. The Surgery Clinic has 3 Professors, 1 Lecturer, 3 Research Assistants, and 2 Technicians; the Internal Medicine Clinic has 6 Professors, 3 Associate Professors, 1 Lecturer, and 1 Laboratory Technician; the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic has 5 Professors, 1 Associate Professor, 1 Assistant Professor, and 1 Research Assistant; and the Reproduction and Artificial Insemination Clinic has 5 Professors and 2 Associate Professors.
Our hospital's services are not limited to this location; we also provide healthcare to the Cattle Breeders Association's farms in surrounding districts three days a week with our fully equipped Ambulance Clinic vehicle. Furthermore, we provide consultancy services to two large, modern farms with the participation of our students. When necessary, we provide on-site treatment or, depending on the patient's condition, transport them here via an on-call system. Our faculty, with its experienced teaching staff and personnel, serves the Marmara and Aegean regions, as well as western Türkiye, with these physical and technical facilities. Our services are not limited to animal health; while veterinarians focus on animal health, they also contribute to environmental and public health, and work holistically from farm to table in food safety.
In addition to healthcare facilities, the Animal Health Research and Application Center also offers educational resources such as two large lecture halls, three classrooms for elective courses, a meeting room, a student休息室 (rest room), and shower facilities.
This center has become an important research center alongside student education and patient services. While some of the research conducted is directly related to animal health, we believe that some research, carried out through experimental studies of the Clinical Branches of the Faculty of Medicine, makes significant contributions to human health.
Another goal of this center is to become Türkiye's Center for Continuing Education in the field of Veterinary Medicine. The international congresses and symposiums we organize, and the training sessions given to veterinarians by world-renowned individuals, demonstrate that this goal is being achieved.
