BURSA ULUDAĞ UNIVERSITY'S FLAG WAVES AT PRIENE

 With the permission of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the work of the Priene Excavations in Aydın/Söke for the 2021 season has started by the faculty members of Bursa Uludağ University Archeology Department.

Priene, one of the important cities of the ancient Ionian Region, was included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Tentative List in 2018. This year, research and excavations will be carried out in some of the sanctuaries of the Ancient City and the necropolis area, and the finds obtained from these will be classified and examined in the excavation laboratory, and scientific publications will be prepared.

The building, where BUÜ staff stayed and conducted their research during their studies in Priene, was built as an excavation house in 1894 and was registered as the oldest example still in use in Turkey.

Also; Priene Excavations and Researches are also supported by BUU Scientific Research Projects Unit.
