Breast Cancer Awareness at Our Vocational School: Experts and Students Come Together

A "Breast Cancer Information and Awareness Seminar" was held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Bursa Uludağ University (BUU) Vocational School of Health Services (SHMYO) as part of the "Community Service Awareness" course. The seminar was met with great interest, with high participation from staff and students.

The seminar covered the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up processes of the disease. Radiation Oncology Specialist Dr. İbrahim Yıldırım emphasized the importance of healthy eating, exercise, and avoiding alcohol and smoking in preventing breast cancer, while sharing current data on modern treatment options. He drew attention to the decisive role of early diagnosis in treatment success. Health Physics Engineer Selda Yeşil detailed the working principles, radiation safety, and importance of advanced imaging devices such as mammography, ultrasonography (USG), MRI, and PET-CT used in cancer diagnosis. She also informed participants about the National Screening Program, emphasizing its importance in early detection.

Oncology Education Nurse Bilge Göraltay explained "Breast Self-Examination" (BSE), sharing techniques with participants, emphasizing the importance of individual follow-up, and conveying the message that awareness begins with the individual.

In this important event, held with the aim of serving the community, participants' questions were answered, creating an interactive environment. At the end of the program, Specialist Dr. İbrahim Yıldırım, Health Physics Engineer Selda Yeşil, and Oncology Education Nurse Bilge Göraltay were presented with certificates of appreciation by the Vocational School Director Prof. Dr. Sinan Çavun for their valuable information and contributions to social awareness. The event concluded with a commemorative photo session featuring the participants and speakers.
