Academic Seminars and Collaboration Meetings Held in Uzbekistan by Prof. Dr. Nalan Kuru

Our Department Chair, Prof. Dr. Nalan Kuru, participated in a series of academic events and institutional meetings in Uzbekistan upon the invitation of Kokand University and Tashkent International University. As part of the visit, Prof. Dr. Kuru delivered seminars entitled “Emotional Intelligence in Education and Life: Emotion-Friendly Communication” at both universities. During the seminars, she addressed emotional intelligence in education, social-emotional development, emotion-friendly communication, and the creation of trust-based educational environments. The seminars attracted considerable interest from students and academics.

Meeting with Students at Kokand University

During the first part of her programme in Uzbekistan, Prof. Dr. Nalan Kuru visited Kokand University and met with students at a seminar organised by the university’s Department of Pedagogy and Psychology.

The seminar focused on developing emotional intelligence in educational processes, supporting children’s social-emotional competencies, and strengthening the psychological and pedagogical capacities of educators and parents. The importance of recognising and managing emotions in both personal and professional life was discussed through current scientific knowledge and practical examples.

During the programme, in which students actively participated, views were exchanged on how the Emotion Coaching approach could be adapted to educational settings, methods for communicating effectively with children, and ways of creating safe learning environments. Enriched by participants’ questions, the seminar provided an interactive learning environment in which academic knowledge and practice were brought together.

Prof. Dr. Kuru also met with the rector, administrators, and academics of Kokand University. The meetings addressed the implementation of joint educational and research activities, the development of academic mobility opportunities, and the expansion of cooperation between the universities.

Meeting with Academics at Tashkent International University

Another destination of the visit to Uzbekistan was Tashkent International University. The Bursa Uludağ University delegation was welcomed by representatives of the university administration, the Department of International Relations, and the Department of Social Sciences and Education. Meetings were subsequently held to discuss potential areas of academic cooperation between the two universities.

The seminar, attended by the university’s academic and administrative staff, addressed the role of emotional intelligence in educational processes, the development of an effective communication culture, the management of emotions in personal and professional life, and the integration of an emotion-friendly approach into institutional culture.

Prof. Dr. Kuru informed participants about scientific and practice-oriented studies conducted in Türkiye and shared the implications of the emotion-friendly communication approach for children, families, teachers, administrators, and educational institutions. Throughout the programme, participants shared examples from their own educational settings and contributed to an international exchange of experiences through their questions.

The seminar provided an important academic platform for enhancing educators’ professional capacities, sharing international scientific knowledge, and bringing innovative educational approaches together with the education systems of different countries.

Opportunities for Academic Cooperation Discussed

During the institutional meetings held as part of the visit, opportunities for cooperation between Bursa Uludağ University, Kokand University, and Tashkent International University were comprehensively discussed.

The parties addressed a range of topics, including supporting staff and student mobility, organising joint seminars and international scientific meetings, conducting collaborative research projects in education and social-emotional development, producing joint scientific publications, and increasing the exchange of academic experience.

It was noted that potential joint projects in areas such as emotional intelligence in education, early childhood education, social-emotional learning, teacher education, family involvement, and emotion-friendly school culture could further strengthen scientific and cultural interaction between Türkiye and Uzbekistan.

The seminars and institutional meetings contributed to sharing Bursa Uludağ University’s scientific knowledge and experience on international platforms and to developing sustainable academic cooperation among the universities.
