First-year students and faculty members of the Mechanical Drawing and Design Program in the Department of Mechanical and Metal Technologies at the İnegöl Vocational School of Bursa Uludağ University; on Thursday, May 21, 2026, visited the R&D center of Akia Transportation Automotive, a company operating in the İnegöl Hamzabey Industrial Zone that manufactures diesel-electric metrobus and buses for urban public transportation, and attended a seminar organized by the R&D center.

First, the company’s R&D center was visited. A seminar was conducted by İbrahim YÖNEL, Head of the R&D Center Unit, and Yunus KIZILARSLAN, Product Manager of the R&D Center, covering the company, the R&D center, production lines, currently manufactured buses/metrobuses, and buses/metrobuses planned for production. Information was provided specifically on environmentally friendly electric public transportation vehicles and their features. R&D Body Technician Mehmet YURDUSEV delivered a presentation titled “The R&D Journey of a Bus.” Human Resources Specialist Mustafa Ayhan Gürbüz accompanied us throughout the tour and seminar.

Finally, the 25-meter-long Metrobüs, which has completed production, was examined.

The visit to the R&D center and the seminar were beneficial for our students in understanding the design process in the manufacturing sector, the importance of design and technical drawings in production, and in observing the R&D work environment.
