The 3rd International Meeting of RoGeMoPorTur, themed “Personifications and Allegories in Ancient Mosaics,” will be held in Iznik from June 19-21, 2026. Organized in collaboration with the Iznik Museum, Bursa Uludağ University, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, and Iznik Municipality, the opening ceremony and morning sessions on June 19, 2026, will be hosted by Iznik Municipality, while the remaining sessions will take place at the Iznik Foundation Campus. The RoGeMoPorTur project (Roman Geometric Mosaics in Portugal and Türkiye: A Comparative Study) is a pilot project for scientific collaboration in the field of Roman mosaic studies conducted in Portugal and Türkiye. Its aim is to define and comparatively analyze the hybridization of cultures reflected in Roman mosaics in Portuguese and Turkish territories, and to identify the cultural exchange and interaction between East and West resulting from the mobility of artisans, trade, and contacts between different regions of the Empire. The project leaders are Prof. Dr. from Turkey. The speakers are Mustafa Şahin and Dr. Maria de Jesus Duran Kremer from Portugal.
