Applications for the 2025 YÖK 'Outstanding Performance Awards' are starting!

Applications for the awards, which will be given under three main headings—Individual, Institutional, and Special Field—across 11 different categories, will be accepted until April 14th.

The YÖK Outstanding Performance Awards, which have been awarded since 2017 by the Council of Higher Education, are starting the application process for this year. The application period will run from Wednesday, April 2, 2025, until Monday, April 14, 2025, at 23:59.

The 2025 YÖK Outstanding Performance Awards will be given in eleven categories under three main headings: Individual, Institutional, and Special Field.

Individual Awards: Under this category, the "PhD Thesis of the Year" award will be given in four different categories: Natural and Engineering Sciences, Fine Arts and Architecture, Health and Sports Sciences, and Social and Humanities Sciences. Applications for these awards will be made by the PhD candidate and their thesis advisor for doctoral theses completed in the previous year. These awards aim to highlight the importance of joint achievements between the faculty member and the student.

Institutional Awards: This category will include five separate awards: Digital Transformation and Big Data Studies, Social Responsibility, International Cooperation, University-Business Cooperation, and Contribution to Local Development. Applications for these awards will be made by higher education institutions. The goal is to encourage and spread innovative work and good practice examples completed in the previous year.

Special Field Awards: The two categories in this section are the National Innovation Award and the Science Diplomacy Award. Applications for these awards will be made by the faculty member who owns the work. The work submitted must have been completed in the previous year (from January 1 to December 31, 2024). These awards aim to encourage studies in the fields of national innovation and science diplomacy which are prioritized for the higher education sector and national interests.

Additionally no applications will be accepted for the "Service to Science and Students Award" which is given under the title "Special Award" for scientists who have made significant contributions to education and science.
