BUÜ HOSPITAL CONTINUES TO HEAL KIDNEY TRANSPLANTATION

3-year-old Ahıska Türkü Dinara Karaeva, who lost her mother 7 years ago and could not regain her health despite the treatments in Russia, came to life with a kidney transplant performed at Bursa Uludağ University (BUÜ) Hospital. Little Dinara was given her aunt's kidney.

Dinara Karaeva, 13, who suffered from kidney disease at a young age, could not regain her health despite the treatments carried out in Russia. Dinara, who lost her mother 7 years ago, began to look for treatment with her father. The Ministry of Health recognizes the Republic of Turkey for the quota of 400 patients covered by the Uzbek Dinara Meskhetian Turks from Turkey, the child was admitted to the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Nephrology of Bursa Uludag University. Competing with time for Dinara, who was on dialysis 3 days a week, hospital employees started working for transplantation from cadaver or alive as soon as possible. Good news came from his aunt Mevlüde to Dinara, who could not be transported because her father's test results did not match. Dinara clung to life with the kidney of her aunt, who had looked after her like her mother for 7 years.

Dinara and her aunt Mevlüde, who came to the hospital for their controls, were welcomed by the Head of Pediatric Nephrology, Prof Dr Osman Dönmez, Organ and Tissue Transplant Coordinator Sahriye Keskin and Rafet Oflaz. Prof Dr Osman Dönmez said "Dinara was one of our lucky patients who benefit from the 400 quota granted to the Republics. She had to be made transport until the end of December. She was undergoing dialysis when she came to us. She was receiving this treatment 3 days a week. Currently, her condition is very good and she will continue her medicines without a break.

At the beginning of 2021, organ donation came from a family that donated organs in Balıkesir. The kidney of a family member who died at the age of 48 was inserted into Orçun Yalçınkaya, 16 years old. Kidney transplant was successful. We thank the family who donated organs. Because an organ donation gives hope to 8 people. The importance of organ donation is revealed once again, "he said.
